My portrait painting journey began with capturing the faces of the homeless and has evolved to include individuals with unique conditions.

Over the years, my work has continually explored and experimented with different media, while maintaining a foundation in hyperrealism. My aim is to amplify the voices of those who may feel unheard in today's society through my artwork.

My most recent paintings focus on embracing the uniqueness of individuals with unusual facial pigmentation. As I see it, a fair world is one in which all people - irrespective of race, social class or disability - can have a positive self-concept. Self-concept revolves around the face, as it is the primary means by which humans recognise and interact with each other. Vitiligo is a rare autoimmune skin condition that manifests uniquely in each individual. Having vitiligo myself, I see it first-hand.

In my previous work, I drew inspiration from photojournalists like Steve McCurry and Lee Jeffries. My goal was to capture the vulnerability and desperation experienced by individuals affected by war and poverty.

I incorporate subjective feelings into my portraits and preserve them for later generations. I like to make full use of posture, expression, scale, negative space and semiotics to allow faces to direct narratives. I'm particularly influenced by faces that generate a strong bond between subject and viewer, thereby creating a lasting impression. I gain inspiration from photographers such as Brook Elbank in terms of concept and from portrait artists such as Marco Grassi in terms of technique.
